Consultation information

Thank you for your booking with Winelands Dentistry.

Please take note of the following (cost for 2026 only. Annual price increase 1st of February each year).

Cost for consultation

  1. Cost for consultation is R 705 for adults (excluding x-ray photos, PAN or CBCT scan)
    • Please note that consultation fees with Dr Johan Borman are R 950 (a slight premium above our standard consultation fee). This reflects his limited clinical availability and focus on more advanced procedures, rather than a difference in quality of care. Dr Borman only sees patients on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Somerset West office; our reception team will gladly confirm availability and this fee with you when booking your appointment. Dr Borman might also refer routine dentistry to one of his associate dentists at the Somerset West office after a consultation has been done.
  2. Cost for consultation is R 450 for children 13 years and younger (excluding x-ray photos, PAN or CBCT scan). This is charged at medical aid rate; thus, it is a rough estimate as each medical aid reimburses different amounts. If no medical aid is applicable, we will use Discovery Health’s rate.

Cost for x-rays, PAN or CBCT scan are.

  • Small intra oral x-ray photos (if indicated): R 217 per one (usually 2 taken with full checkup)
  • PAN (if indicated): R 979
  • CBCT scan (if indicated): R 979

Please arrive 15 minutes earlier to complete the necessary documentation at the office. If you are late for your appointment, we will need to reschedule.

Please reschedule your appointment if you are feeling unwell, currently have a contagious illness, or are struggling to breathe. Elective dental treatment should wait until you have recovered, as this protects our other patients and staff. If you are in pain, please still contact us, as we will always accommodate emergency and pain-related treatment.

Photography or videography during your consultation or procedure is not permitted without the prior consent of your doctor or a staff member. We also ask that you switch off your phone during your appointment, to help ensure your full attention during the consultation or procedure.

We ask private tariffs but can claim from most medical aids the portion your specific medical aid will pay out (depending on the benefits/savings). If so, the co-payment needs to be settled on the day of consultation/procedure. We are not a network provider. Please note that we do not claim from medical aids administered by Momentum Health or MMI Holdings.

Please make sure that you always know what dental procedures and their associated amounts your medical aid will cover, prior to visiting us.

Our private tariffs are generally constructed from Discovery Health’s tariffs + 35% (this is to ensure quality treatment in a clean and sterile environment). Some advanced procedures will be higher.

Cost of surgical procedures to be done in-hospital under general anesthesia need to be settled 24 hours before the scheduled operation. Reimbursement from medical aid to be done by patient.

We are a cashless practice; thus, payment options are debit- or credit card.

To accommodate families, we ask Discovery Health’s tariffs for consultation and procedures on children younger than 13 years of age.

We trust that you will contact us should you require any additional information. We look forward to welcoming you to our practice.

A little about how we work at Winelands Dentistry

We are a group of general dentists, and between us we cover a wide range of dental procedures — from routine checkups and preventive care to more advanced treatments. Each dentist in our group has, over time, developed particular areas of special interest alongside their general practice.

What this means for you as a patient is that from time to time, your dentist may refer you to one of their colleagues within our group, or to an external specialist, for a specific procedure. This is not a cause for concern — it simply means your dentist is committed to ensuring you receive the most appropriate care from someone with the right expertise for your particular needs.

We think that’s what good dentistry looks like: honest, transparent, and always focused on the best outcome for you. Dentistry you can trust.
