At Winelands Dentistry, we offer professional teeth whitening using the trusted Opalescence™ system — a globally recognised, research-driven whitening range developed by Ultradent in the USA. Our treatments are designed to be safe, effective, and gentle, giving you a brighter smile with minimal sensitivity.

For in-office whitening, we use Opalescence Boost™, a chemically activated 40% hydrogen peroxide gel that delivers visible results in a single appointment — with no LED lights or heat needed. The formula contains potassium nitrate and fluoride to help strengthen enamel and reduce sensitivity.

We also offer Opalescence Go™, a whitening option using pre-filled UltraFit™ trays that adapt comfortably to your teeth. It's ideal for patients who want to maintain their in-office results or prefer a more gradual whitening process.

Every whitening treatment is tailored to your specific needs and supervised by a dental professional to ensure a safe, predictable, and comfortable experience.

The following is some more information regarding the process.

• Tooth whitening can be a very effective way of lightening the natural colour of your teeth without removing any of the tooth surface. It cannot make a complete colour change, but it may lighten the existing shade.
• Professional bleaching is the most common method of tooth whitening. Your dental team will be able to tell you if you are suitable for the treatment and will supervise it if you are.
• The 'active ingredient' in the product is usually hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide. As the active ingredient is broken down, oxygen enters the enamel on the teeth, causing the tooth colour to lighten.
• Whitening only works on natural tooth structure; thus, any fillings, crowns, veneers, bridges, etc, will not whiten.
• Some people may find that their teeth become sensitive to cold during or after the treatment.
• Unfortunately, not all teeth can be whitened. It depends on the individual's dental health.
• Teeth whitening isn't permanent, but how long the effects last will depend on the type of treatment you have and how well you look after your teeth afterwards. In most cases, teeth whitening can last from six months to two years. There's a greater chance of your teeth staying whiter for longer if you avoid smoking and limit staining foods and drinks, such as tea, coffee, and beetroot.

Opalescence GO costs R 1 300.

Opalescence Go™ is the perfect option for patients who want a fast, convenient, and budget-friendly whitening boost. During your appointment, we place a single set of pre-filled UltraFit™ trays that gently adapt to your teeth for an even whitening effect. Treatment takes only a few minutes in the chair and provides a noticeably fresher, brighter smile. It's an ideal option for a quick enhancement or for maintaining previous whitening results.

Opalescence BOOST costs R 3 800.

Opalescence Boost™ is our ideal, intensive in-office whitening treatment for patients wanting a deeper and longer-lasting brightening of their smile. Using a professionally applied, chemically activated 40% hydrogen peroxide gel, Opalescence Boost™ delivers powerful results while remaining gentle on teeth and enamel. The built-in potassium nitrate and fluoride help reduce sensitivity, ensuring a comfortable experience under the supervision of a dental professional.

All whitening options require a dental cleaning. The cost of cleaning with dry polishing and without fluoride treatment is R 636.
